Tamron lenses… why not?

Well for some reason, I decided I’d buy a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens. I mean after all, it got some pretty good reviews and users raving about it only being $400-$500.

Well after taking a good 100+ shots, it was time to open up Photoshop and disect.

I IMMEDIATELY notice this, HORRID “CA”. Something I’ve NEVER noticed with a Canon “L” series lens regardless of the high contrast of white/black/pink/green/whatever combo car/wheels.

Well after seeing this on 100+ shots I am returning the lens and I will HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!!!

What a disappointment. Sorry just had to make a personal rant.

Here is the final product:

This is the original, unedited, unaltered base ambient RAW image. From this image various elements were worked on in Photoshop and worked on individually. Elements range from, side passenger windows, windshield, tired & inside fender, ground, sky, and headlight.

The windshield was exported and added as a layer to the original RAW:

The tire and inside fender were exported and added as a layer to the original RAW. Tire reflection had to be fixed in the reflection of the ground to match:

I shot the sky while scouting locations. The sky was exported in multiple portions and added as a layer to the original RAW:

I’m posting this to support my good bud Josh Mackey and his friend Jason Sui. If you dont know who Josh Mackey and Jason Sui are, well you should, so check them out and order their book!

Mackey told me about this book last year and I had the privilage to proof reading some chapters for him. This is a steller book and any automotive photographer should pick it up!

The book is 128 pages and has close to 300 of their best photos along with EXIF data and explanations on how each one was shot, what lens was used, lighting equipment if any, etc.

Please show your support if interested and pre-order the book on Amazon.com by CLICKING HERE!!!!!
