This is the original, unedited, unaltered base ambient RAW image. From this image various elements were worked on in Photoshop and worked on individually. Elements range from, side passenger windows, windshield, tires & inside fender, ground, sky, and headlight. Other elements range from curves, contrast, levels, colors, and other post proccessing.
Basic Fixes Made

Here is the ambient original with some notes: Drop in sky to the right of the bridge, drop in sky to the left of the bridge, remove statue, remove rig & add pillar into windshield, drop in new windshield, turn on car headlight lamp, drop in new tire and fender, drop in new passenger windows, and fix tire reflection in the wet pavement.
Windows Pulled

The passenger windows from this exposure were exported and added as a layer to the original image due to the minimal reflections in the windows.
Windshield Pulled

The windshield from this exposure was exported and added as a layer to the original image due to the minimal reflections in the windows.
Tire & Fender Pulled

The tire and inside fender were exported and added as a layer to the original image. I chose the turning tire simply to add more character to the photograph. Later, the tire reflection had to be fixed in the reflection of the ground to match.
Sky Dropped In

This is the sky I used in the final image because it was very dramatic and added to the over all feel of the image. I shot the sky while scouting locations. The sky was exported in multiple portions and added as a layer to the original image.

awesome pictures, saw ur link via evolution m,im new to photographer…nice portfolio, hope you could open a wallpaper section soon…needs to be made as a wallpaper…

Thanks! yea wallpapers are coming shortly actually :)

Saw this on evolutionm.net, thank you for the how to !!

How do you actually go about removing the rig and camera mount? Are you masking them out? Also, was the car actually in motion when the picture was taken?

Rig is removed mostly by using the CLONE tool and also the
PEN TOOL. Yes, the car is actaully moving, but not fast,
maybe around 1-2mph. Here is the original picture straight
from the camera, as you see the car is moving :)

Nice write up!

Saw your final image on flickr and had to check out your blog which is now bookmarked :)

I love seeing image builds like this. Awesome job!

Thanks for taking the time to show the behind the scenes of the final image. It really looked like you had everything planned out before even taking the picture. I hope you have time to continue with more of this writeup.

Thanks for all the work you did and do for me Orlando :) One of the best and diff the best guy to deal with and hang out with :)

Man you’ve done a very nice job!! The pictures look amazing and thanks for searing the behind scenes! You’re blog is in my bookmark list!!

Hum, been taking a dept sight into your work and this is one of the most amazing ones. Which is the reason to drop in the frontal wheel turned while the actual photo is visible going straight? is it to keep the background not that blurry?
o, I would like to know how did you processed the bridge and the car itself if its not so long.

thanks!!

Hey Jimbo, sorry for the super long delay. I just prefered the aspect of the wheel turning, which is why I put it in the final image.

Processing including, Levels, Curves, Shadow/Highlights, Contrast, Selective coloring. All which to bring out the stormy feel while maintaining a proper WB.

aight! thanks!! btw… do you have family in Spain? as I know some old friends with your last name and I don’t think it is pretty common.

I live in the USA actually. My father is from Elsalvador though.

Wow! Awesome! So much info for me! Thanks alot!
